Data connectors in Coveo are components that enable the integration and indexing of data from different sources into the Coveo platform. They extract and ingest data from systems, applications, databases, and repositories, allowing users to search and retrieve information within the Coveo search interface.
Some of the possible data connectors include:
Data connectors are typically used to establish a connection between Coveo and the source system, which allows the retrieval of the content. They can be configured to crawl, fetch, and index data in real-time or at scheduled intervals, ensuring that the Coveo search index remains up to date with the latest information.
Leveraging Coveo Search: Integrating with Veeva Vault
At FocalCXM, we have worked on a number of projects that utilize Coveo’s data connectors. For this blog, I will delve into how we integrated with Veeva Vault.
By leveraging out-of-the-box connectors like Generic Rest API, we can integrate Veeva Vault source systems from Commercial, Medical, and Clinical (Ex: Scientific Content on Veeva Medcomms, Commercial Content on PromoMats, Quality Docs on Veeva Quality Docs). These connectors can extract data from Veeva Vault and feed it into the Coveo platform, allowing Coveo to index this data and make it searchable. This integration enables organizations to leverage the power of AI and search capabilities to find relevant information within their Veeva Vault content quickly and efficiently.
Generic REST API is used to pull the required content into Coveo through a JSON configuration.
Using Coveo’s intelligent search, you can get the most relevant results out of a potentially huge amount of data by using Coveo’s tools and search features. Content is indexed using a JSON configuration when PromoMats, Medcomms or QualityDocs are integrated into Coveo using an out-of-the-box connector (Generic REST API).
We can also enable OCR if the content has any scanned PDF’s or handwritten copies. One of the best capabilities of Coveo is OCR, which is capable of extracting text from images or PDFs containing images (i.e., scanned or illustrated documents) as they are indexed. In the item Quick View, OCR-extracted text is searchable and appears as item data.
With Coveo, the Search page allows us to create search interfaces that are immediately operational, which means we can use and share them as soon as they are created.
Coveo also provides a number of frameworks like Atomic, Headless and REST APIs to build a search interface, allowing the customer to build the one that fits most closely with their needs.
The Relevance search can be achieved by leveraging Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML), which is a cloud and analytics-based machine learning service that continually analyzes search behavior patterns to understand which results and content lead to the best outcomes. Coveo ML automatically delivers the most relevant search results and proactive recommendations with minimal effort, so the best-performing content always rises to the top.
Reports and dashboards are used to record and display resulting data measuring the relevance of the experience you are creating for the application. The events like clicks and searches are captured with Usage Analytics.
The integration of Veeva Vault with Coveo using data connectors opens up many possibilities for organizations in the life sciences industry. By seamlessly connecting and indexing data from various sources, Coveo empowers users to search, retrieve, and analyze relevant content with ease. The intelligent search capabilities, OCR functionality, and machine learning algorithms ensure that users receive accurate and timely results, improving productivity and decision-making. With customizable search interfaces and robust analytics, organizations can continuously optimize their search experience and gain valuable insights into user behavior. By utilizing the power of Coveo’s data connectors, Veeva Vault users can unlock the full potential of their content and drive meaningful outcomes in the rapidly evolving life sciences landscape.
